OKLAHOMA CITY - The U.S. Grant athletic department officially announced the hiring of Nathan Buchholz as the new girls wrestling head coach on Thursday.
Buchholz begins his second season of coaching with the Generals as last season he served as the head coach for boys track & field alongside being the offensive coordinator for USG football. Prior to becoming a General, Buchholz spent three years as a physical education teacher at Kepley Middle School in Ulysses, Kansas.
While in Ulysses, Coach Buchholz also coached multiple sports including two years with the high school softball team (one as head coach), three years with middle school basketball (one as head coach), and one year of high school and middle school football. He also has one other High School coaching stint in Dodge City, Kansas during the 2020-21 athletic year.
Buchholz started his coaching career working with tight ends and doing quality control at Southern Nazarene University from 2017-19.
He has a bachelor's degree in physical education and a master's degree in sports management and administration from SNU.
Buchholz graduated from Decatur Community High School in Oberlin, Kansas where he was active in all sports. After graduation, he attended Sterling College in Kansas where he played football.
