OKLAHOMA CITY - The U.S. Grant athletic department announced the hirings of Arthur Brewer as the new boys basketball head coach, Tyce Davidson as the new tennis head coach, Lance Tewell as the new boys wrestling head coach, and Yajayara Lopez as the new cheer head coach on Thursday afternoon.
Beginning with Coach Brewer, he is no stranger to U.S. Grant as he has coached the Generals on the hardwood and the gridiron, serving as an assistant coach for both boys basketball and football. A graduate of Langston University, Coach Brewer is backed by over 10 years of coaching experience.
He brings knowledge, leadership, and a strong commitment to player development. Coach A is known for emphasizing fundamentals, discipline, and accountability, while building teamwork and consistency. Brewer is dedicated to developing student-athletes both on and off the court, preparing them not only for competition, but for success in life.
Most recently, he led U.S. Grant to the State Area Tournament, finishing just one game shy of the Class 6A State Tournament. Brewer is a physical science and biology teacher at U.S. Grant High School.

Coach Tyce Davidson is a dedicated educator at U.S. Grant, where he shares his passion for mathematics as an Algebra 2 and Geometry teacher. A 2019 graduate of Pauls Valley High School, Davidson brings a local perspective and high-energy approach to the classroom.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from East Central University in 2023, fueling his lifelong connection to sports and physical fitness. A former four-sport athlete at Pauls Valley, Coach Davidson is committed to helping student-athletes find their stride both academically and athletically.

Coach Lance Tewell is a dedicated leader, veteran, and educator bringing passion and experience to his new role as Head Boys Wrestling coach. A four-year U.S. Army veteran, he spent four years at Oklahoma State University and graduated from Upper Iowa University while serving on active duty. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. A devoted husband and father, Coach Tewell has coached various youth sports and brings a strong background in Jiu Jitsu to his program.
After a record-breaking 2025-26 season as the Boys Assistant Wrestling Coach, he is excited to lead the boys program, focusing on building a competitive team while instilling discipline, confidence, and life skills that will benefit his athletes beyond the mat.
Coach Tewell serves as a CTE BMITE Instructor at U.S. Grant High School.

Coach Lopez is a dedicated mother and wife while also serving as an educator, coach, and community advocate with a strong passion for sports and youth development. Born and raised in an inner-city neighborhood in Oklahoma City, she is committed to giving back and empowering others. A graduate of Santa Fe South High School, she was actively involved in cheerleading, band, and student leadership, which sparked her passion for advocacy and service.
She went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts with a minor in Public Relations from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where she held leadership roles and gained experience in public relations, marketing, and social media.
Professionally, Lopez has supported campus engagement and wellness initiatives at Oklahoma State University in Oklahoma City before returning to her alma mater as an educator and now currently serving with the OKCPS district.
Alongside teaching, she has spent five years coaching cheer, building strong programs that develop not only skilled athletes but also community-minded leaders and driven scholars. Recently, she expanded her coaching into track, embracing the opportunity to learn from fellow coaches and discover new ways to motivate and empower athletes. Coach Lopez is a math teacher at U.S. Grant High School.
As a first-generation Mexican-American, Yajayra brings a unique and determined perspective to her work, striving to inspire others to embrace diversity, pursue excellence, and work together as a team.
